After removing 10 or 12 cups of hulls and giving it a little time to get used to the swishing noise when you manipulate the pillow, I find it very comfortable.
It has made my transition to tolerating CPAP easier as the pillow is extremely moldable, yet supportive and doesn’t contribute to mask leaks or it being pulled off.

I suffered from awful neck pain for years due to a terrible pillows. From the first night after I started using a Hullo pillow, my pain has been gone. I really can’t overstate how this has improved my quality of life. I used to spend all day in pain, rubbing my neck and shoulders, rotating my whole body instead of turning my neck, and wincing whenever I moved my head quickly. All solved now. I got a buckwheat pillow for me and my partner. The pillow didn’t kill their snoring entirely, but snoring is down 90% at least. The sound has gone from a drowning water buffalo to the rumble of a old car in far in the distance. I can tune it out and sleep. For me, I don’t wake up with neck pain anymore, and I only have to sleep on one pillow. As an added bonus, my pillow is now so heavy that my kid can’t steal it off the bed for pillow forts.
It took a little getting used to, and the pillow had a faint smell at first, but as someone who gets migraines from strong smells I can attest that it wasn’t strong and didn’t smell bad. To me, it smelled like black tea, almost. I never in a million years would have thought that sleeping on what is essentially a sack of grain would improve my sleep so much, but it absolutely has.
You should absolutely get one, as long as you don’t intend to use it for pillow fights.

This is a a firm pillow that takes a few days to get used to. When it first arrived I was surprised by how heavy it was. It was also very firm to the point where I thought that there was no way I would like it. In the box is a paper that tells you how to use it (weird, it’s a pillow, I’ve been using a pillow my whole life). The card was right, fluff it up, lay your head on it, give it a few days to get used to it, definitely don’t use it with another pillow. This is a great pillow, but you need to give it a chance. I use to wake up with headaches or neck pain, especially if I used more than one pillow to try to get some support. In the few months I have had the Hullo, I have not woken up with pain, and I have slept great. Also, it stays cool. You don’t have to flip the pillow in the night. Buy one, try it, you’ll probably love it.

The best neck support that I’ve found yet (and I’ve tried A LOT of pillows). The buckwheat fill makes the pillow endlessly adjustable, cool, and supportive. The materials are consistently high quality. Note that if you share a bed the gentle rustle of the buckwheat fill can rouse a very light sleeper.

After getting this pillow, I no longer have to take so much time readjusting myself to try to find the right neck support in the middle of the night. I’ve had my buckwheat pillow for about 5 months now. You have to add or remove material a few times to get the balance right, but it’s worth it.
Things people complain about, but I don’t find bad:
Smell – detectable but not intrusive at all.
Noise – a bit annoying for major adjustments/the first of the night, but for minor adjustments or just while your heads on it, not bad at all.
Weight – definitely heavier than I expected, but I kind of like that.
Things people say are good, but I think aren’t perfect:
Shape holding – pretty good, but tossing/turning will change it minorly throughout the night.
Temperature – it’s not actively cool to the touch, but I think only once has it gotten “too warm” in 5 months.
I think those imperfect properties are probably inherent to a buckwheat pillow, and not a fault of Hullo in particular. I’m overall very satisfied with it.

I’ve been using a buckwheat pillow for about 35 years.
I actually made this purchase to have shipped to Montana where I would be staying for about a month to visit family and didn’t want to bring my pillow from home bc of the weight and trying to carry it on a plane.

Pillow is VERY firm. Given the volume of hulls, initial shape was too large and stiff. Even with content/fill adjustment, end result was the worst neck pain I’ve ever experienced. Stopped using after 1 month and multiple adjustments. Went back to C shaped gel/foam type pillow.

I really disliked the thought that something I’d sleep on for a few years would end up in a landfill for 500 years. So I decided to try this.
It is heavy. This helps me keep it on my side of the bed, and thus keep my head on my side of the bed. (It was not uncommon for me to have my pillows *off* the bed.) However, moving the pillow or getting it in the pillow case can be a bit more work than you’re used to, as it is 13 pounds (5.8kg). You can adjust the weight by removing some or all of the hulls. If you live alone and have arthritis or other impairment, just know it might be a bit of an adjustment.
It is loud compared to other pillows, but it’s still quiet compared to everyday sounds. And, of course, it’s only noisy when you move.
There is a bit of firmness, but it’s also adjustable. I think it’s great as is.
While there is a premium price for this product, it is a quality product, and it’s the best pillow I’ve ever owned.

When I left my Hullo pillow at a hotel during a recent visit and couldn’t get in touch with that hotel, I immediately went out and ordered a new pillow. My sleep was horrible without it. I love my Hullo pillow! I am pretty picky about pillows. I like a pillow that’s firm but also malleable. Memory foam pillows have never worked for me because I can’t easily change the shape as I shift sleeping positions over the course of a night. I love how easy it is to reshape this pillow. I needed to take about half the filling out of mine to personalize it for my comfort, but that was very easy to do. The case is well made. The whole pillow feels clean and comfortable. It even smells fresh and clean. I wish I’d bought one years ago.

I love this pillow. I was initially very hesitant because of the cost. I have been trying to find a pillow that will work for me for years. I am a side sleeper. Recently, I took up rock climbing which caused my upper body and neck to be sore frequently. This made a good night sleep for recovery imperative. My regular pillow was just not cutting it anymore. I was waking up in the morning with horrible neck and shoulder pain that was resulting in headaches. As soon as I switched to the Hullo pillow the pain subsided. It was a little different the first few nights, but I adjusted quickly. I have since tried my husband’s “regular” pillow and cannot stand it anymore. The Hullo conforms to my head and then supports my neck throughout the night. The “regular” pillow just goes flat and my neck is left sore. Very much worth the price. It is high quality and I forsee it lasting me a long time. Some people comment they do not like the smell. I actually find it quite pleasent. I would highly recommend this pillow.
