Take the time to get in allignment! Took out 4 big scoops and it was perfect. Took about a week to get used to (texture, noise, firmness, etc) but this is the best pillow I have ever had. Sleeping great 👍

My physical therapist suggested this pillow and I’m so glad he did. I’m a side sleeper and I love how I can get my neck completely neutral and Hullo fills in around it. It just cradles it in the perfect position. It’s so odd that the pillow is “hard” but I get such great sleep. Most mornings I wake up and I haven’t even moved. Don’t forget that you can take filling out to get the right fit. I am 5’4″ and I took out about a half a gallon sized baggie of hulls.

This is the best pillow for my sore, achy neck! It is so comfortable and provides great support! I love how it molds to my head and neck in any position I lie. I take it with me when I travel because it helps me get a good night’s sleep.

This is a great pillow. I don’t have any neckpain after using it, it stays the perfect temperature, and it’s moldable. It’s perfectly full for me.
The standard American size is a bit too big for a buckwheat pillow, imo – it’s extremely heavy and kind of unwieldy if you’re prone to sticking your arm under your pillow. Still works great though!

Reason 1: These are well-filled; the quality of construction is obvious.
Reason 2: Unlike foam pillows which are not adjustable, these are easy to position and be stably supported.

Partner and I have been using buckwheat hull pillows since I bought our first two at a big-box Linens store in Norwalk, CT back in the late 80’s. We were skeptical; back then a single pillow that cost $70. was a big chunk from our monthly income and we needed a pair!
We have been dedicated BHPusers now for more than 35 years. As we both have different cervical vertebrae issues, these are always our mainstay for comfortable nights and less-pain days.
We don’t take ’em on overnight travels (yet!) but they’re so good you’ll want to.
Hullo’s product is more substantial than another brand’s set purchased in 2013. If you’re looking for a buckwheat hull pillow, you won’t be disappointed with these! If I could give these 6 stars, I would.

I’m a back-and-side sleeper who doesn’t want to use two pillows. The hulls shift around nicely to accommodate both sleeping positions. I find that I sleep harder and deeper on the Hullo pillow than I ever did with other adjustable pillows or even my molded latex one. I also quite like the rustling sound of the hulls – it’s like relaxing white noise.

I had been dealing with neck pain every morning for about a year and was thinking I may need to find a new pillow. My old pillows offered very little support and I assumed I needed something that would provide more consistent support. My husband did a lot of research and then surprised me with a Hullo for my birthday, and it has completely eradicated my neck pain. As other reviewers have stated, my pillow felt hard when I first started using it, but after getting the proper amount of fill correct I can adjust it “on the fly” while I sleep and enjoy it very much.
Hullo is a fine company with a great product and “more” than fair policies. A refreshing change from most of todays marketing hoopla!

The First night I used my pillow I noticed a huge difference. Before my hullo pillow I was waking up with horrible head, neck, and shoulder pain. No more! With my hullo pillow I am able to adjust it to how high or low I want it. It is soft but firm as well. The noise of the pillow does not bother me at all. In fact I find it rather comforting. The one downside I can think of with this pillow is that it is a bit heavy, but that is it! For people who are side sleepers, back sleepers and stomach sleepers I highly recommend!

After removing 10 or 12 cups of hulls and giving it a little time to get used to the swishing noise when you manipulate the pillow, I find it very comfortable.
It has made my transition to tolerating CPAP easier as the pillow is extremely moldable, yet supportive and doesn’t contribute to mask leaks or it being pulled off.

The best neck support that I’ve found yet (and I’ve tried A LOT of pillows). The buckwheat fill makes the pillow endlessly adjustable, cool, and supportive. The materials are consistently high quality. Note that if you share a bed the gentle rustle of the buckwheat fill can rouse a very light sleeper.

Bremerton, WA I Didn’t Think REM Sleep was Possible For Me Anymore!
After getting this pillow, I no longer have to take so much time readjusting myself to try to find the right neck support in the middle of the night. I don’t have to think so much about how to get comfortable, because this pillow seems to shape itself around you! I have the best sleep I’ve had since I was a teenager, and it feels effortless.

I’ve had my buckwheat pillow for about 5 months now. You have to add or remove material a few times to get the balance right, but it’s worth it.
Things people complain about, but I don’t find bad:
Smell – detectable but not intrusive at all.
Noise – a bit annoying for major adjustments/the first of the night, but for minor adjustments or just while your heads on it, not bad at all.
Weight – definitely heavier than I expected, but I kind of like that.
Things people say are good, but I think aren’t perfect:
Shape holding – pretty good, but tossing/turning will change it minorly throughout the night.
Temperature – it’s not actively cool to the touch, but I think only once has it gotten “too warm” in 5 months.
I think those imperfect properties are probably inherent to a buckwheat pillow, and not a fault of Hullo in particular. I’m overall very satisfied with it.

Pillow is VERY firm. Given the volume of hulls, initial shape was too large and stiff. Even with content/fill adjustment, end result was the worst neck pain I’ve ever experienced. Stopped using after 1 month and multiple adjustments. Went back to C shaped gel/foam type pillow.

I love this pillow and recommend it for the eco-conscious.
I really disliked the thought that something I’d sleep on for a few years would end up in a landfill for 500 years. So I decided to try this.
It is heavy. This helps me keep it on my side of the bed, and thus keep my head on my side of the bed. (It was not uncommon for me to have my pillows *off* the bed.) However, moving the pillow or getting it in the pillow case can be a bit more work than you’re used to, as it is 13 pounds (5.8kg). You can adjust the weight by removing some or all of the hulls. If you live alone and have arthritis or other impairment, just know it might be a bit of an adjustment.
It is loud compared to other pillows, but it’s still quiet compared to everyday sounds. And, of course, it’s only noisy when you move.
There is a bit of firmness, but it’s also adjustable. I think it’s great as is.
While there is a premium price for this product, it is a quality product, and it’s the best pillow I’ve ever owned.

New York, NY Very Adaptable Pillow
I love my Hullo pillow! I am pretty picky about pillows. I like a pillow that’s firm but also malleable. Memory foam pillows have never worked for me because I can’t easily change the shape as I shift sleeping positions over the course of a night. I love how easy it is to reshape this pillow. I needed to take about half the filling out of mine to personalize it for my comfort, but that was very easy to do. The case is well made. The whole pillow feels clean and comfortable. It even smells fresh and clean. I wish I’d bought one years ago.

I like the buckwheat pillow very much. I would have preferred less hulls in the pillow with extra hulls in a separate bag, because at first I slept on the original pillow as shipped for the first three nights. This led to a mildly sore neck, due to the pillow being too high and firm for me. I then took out some hulls and stored them in a plastic bag. Then the pillow was OK for me. I understand that everyone is different, but it seems that it would be better if the pillow was shipped with less hulls inside and some extra ones in a separate bag for people to add if they want to.
