Never matted. Easy to adjust to the shape of your head and neck. Comfortable! Sleep good. Enjoyable!

I have been searching for a pillow that provides firm enough support for my finicky neck and came across the concept of buckwheat hull pillows. When I saw that Hullo pillows are made in Duluth, MN, with Dakota-grown buckwheat hulls–all of that is close to home for me!–I knew I needed to give them a try. My order arrived amazingly quickly. The pillow is well-made, and I found it comfortable to use right away. I did end up feeling I needed to add some extra hulls and sent an email to the company. A generous box of hulls showed up on my doorstep the next day! I highly recommend this product and Hullo as a company!

This pillow is very nice, and I am happy to buy a product made here in the USA! It is made of buckwheat and takes a little more time to put on the pillow case and makes some crunching sounds when adjusting. It is supportive of my neck and very comfortable. I am a Physical Therapist and specialize in spine care and would definitely recommend this pillow!

We were skeptical when we read the great reviews, but because of the guarantee we decided to try it. Since using the pillow, I have not had the neck and upper back problems I regularly suffered from. The only time they came back is when we went on vacation and didn’t have the pillows with us. I cannot recommend this pillow enough.

Take the time to get in allignment! Took out 4 big scoops and it was perfect. Took about a week to get used to (texture, noise, firmness, etc) but this is the best pillow I have ever had. Sleeping great 👍

I love this pillow so much. Adjustment period was about one week. I now feel like I’m sleeping on a cloud, a perfectly neck-supported cloud. Every time I turn my head during the night I find myself resting in the perfect spot on the pillow. Incredible. Why aren’t all pillows like this?

Hello everyone! Thank you all for the privilege of your time. I wanted to share my review and let people know that as of today—April 22, 2025—I’m experiencing better sleep quality with the standard-sized buckwheat pillow I purchased from Hulltex, the makers of the Hullo Pillow.
I took off one star because the price is on the higher side.
The pillow was packaged well and shipped via UPS.
Unless something changes, I plan to keep the pillow, as I’m still well within the 60-day trial period.
Yes, I’m aware that the return shipping fee would be my responsibility if I decide to take advantage of Hulltex’s “60-Day, No Questions Asked, Money-Back Policy.”
To echo what many others have said: everything about buckwheat pillows is true. It’s not mumbo jumbo. I’m sleeping better and no longer waking up with uncomfortable neck and shoulder pain. My cervical spine feels rested and well supported.
One interesting effect—though it needs more time to confirm—is that I’m no longer waking up in the middle of the night with mild xerostomia (dry mouth), needing a sip of water before returning to sleep. Lately, I’ve been going to bed around 10 or 11 PM and waking naturally around 6:30 or 7 AM.
If you’re on the fence or experiencing the oddities that others here have reported, give buckwheat pillows a try and see for yourself.

My physical therapist suggested this pillow and I’m so glad he did. I’m a side sleeper and I love how I can get my neck completely neutral and Hullo fills in around it. It just cradles it in the perfect position. It’s so odd that the pillow is “hard” but I get such great sleep. Most mornings I wake up and I haven’t even moved. Don’t forget that you can take filling out to get the right fit. I am 5’4″ and I took out about a half a gallon sized baggie of hulls.

This is the best pillow for my sore, achy neck! It is so comfortable and provides great support! I love how it molds to my head and neck in any position I lie. I take it with me when I travel because it helps me get a good night’s sleep.
I am a retired chiropractor. I would recommend Hullo pillow to anyone with neck pain!

With frequent neck pain associated with my chronic migraines, I was looking for a pillow that wouldn’t add to the pain and discomfort. I’m very glad that I gave this type of pillow a try as I have noticed a huge decrease in neck pain during the night and upon waking. This in turn has helped to decrease the intensity (and onset) of migraines I experience in the morning. I will always use this type of pillow from now on.

I’ve had problems for YEARS with my neck and this pillow is a game changer! Would Absolutely recommend!!

This is a great pillow. I don’t have any neckpain after using it, it stays the perfect temperature, and it’s moldable. It’s perfectly full for me.
The standard American size is a bit too big for a buckwheat pillow, imo – it’s extremely heavy and kind of unwieldy if you’re prone to sticking your arm under your pillow. Still works great though!

It took a few days to get used to this pillow, but one I got comfortable on it, I now cannot sleep on a regular pillow anymore. Wonderful pillow if you are trying to switch from sleeping on a mattress to sleeping on the floor.
As a side sleeper, I love being able to move the hulls around so I have the perfect space between my neck and shoulder. So glad I purchased this Hullo pillow after much research!
I recently let my adult daughter try mine for few nights and she immediately ordered one after that first night!

I’ve used buckwheat pillows for about 20 years, and this is as good as any of the others I have had. The biggest downside to the Hullo is the size. The standard size doesn’t fit easily into a typical pillow case. You can get it in with a lot of work. I wish I kept the zippered case from my previous pillow and just filled it with fresh hulls. So I’m now trying to find a better sized zippered case that will fit into a standard pillow case.
Reason 1: These are well-filled; the quality of construction is obvious.
Reason 2: Unlike foam pillows which are not adjustable, these are easy to position and be stably supported.
Reason 3: With basic care to clean the covers, these pillows last for many years with minimal loss of fill loft. ‘Guest room’ foam ones — from Lindell’s internet garbage, to high-end memory-foam mattress store sets – seem to break down and get flat-feeling quite quickly. We’ve tried ’em…
Partner and I have been using buckwheat hull pillows since I bought our first two at a big-box Linens store in Norwalk, CT back in the late 80’s. We were skeptical; back then a single pillow that cost $70. was a big chunk from our monthly income and we needed a pair!
We have been dedicated BHPusers now for more than 35 years. As we both have different cervical vertebrae issues, these are always our mainstay for comfortable nights and less-pain days.
We don’t take ’em on overnight travels (yet!) but they’re so good you’ll want to.
Hullo’s product is more substantial than another brand’s set purchased in 2013. If you’re looking for a buckwheat hull pillow, you won’t be disappointed with these! If I could give these 6 stars, I would.

I tend to be difficult on pillows, noticing that they begin to break down and lose shape after just a few weeks of use. In addition, I always find traditional pillows hot, and I wake up sweating at least once a week. The Hullo pillow allows airflow so that I am never overheated from my pillow, and it has retained it’s shape and comfort for months longer that typical pillows. I don’t expect to ever go back to other pillows.

I wasn’t sure at first, but the recommendations and return policy drew me in, since I’ve never found a pillow that supports me quite right. I didn’t realize until I ordered that they’re are based in the same state, an added plus. But the pillow, it’s finally one that supports my neck the way I need. It took a day or two to get used to the rustling it makes, but after that, I can honestly say it’s the best pillow I’ve ever had.

This is a premium brand, more expensive than most. First, I didn’t find it much better than any of my other buckwheat pillows. Ive not slept without one in over 20 years. Don’t know why anyone wouldn’t use a buckwheat pillow.
That said, this was overstuffed. Obviously I took out some filling, bit no matter how careful, it’s always a mess. Next, it is apparently wider than average. I hard to really work to get it in any size pillowcase. Finally, I have pillows that are just as good for half the price.
I’m a back-and-side sleeper who doesn’t want to use two pillows. The hulls shift around nicely to accommodate both sleeping positions. I find that I sleep harder and deeper on the Hullo pillow than I ever did with other adjustable pillows or even my molded latex one. I also quite like the rustling sound of the hulls – it’s like relaxing white noise.

I had not idea how poorly “normal” pillows support your head and neck. It really helps settle me into a good nights sleep. I wish I had know about this pillow type decades ago.

I rarely wake up with stiff shoulders / neck in all the years I’ve used to type of pillow. It’s cooler, keeps it’s form until you change it and is excellent for helping me sleep better. I even took it to the hospital when I was in for 8 days because the ones provided were polyester filled and I couldn’t get comfortable; the fill kept sinking and caused me neck stiffness on the first night. Even tried memory foam types but they were very hot and not very pliable to move around the way the ones I made with these hulls are.
I’ve recommended this site to several people through the years and all have been converts to switching over from their usual type to the buckwheat hulls. These also last much longer so are cost effective versus replacing flattened other fill pillows.

When I first received my Hullo, I was underwhelmed, to be honest. While the materials and stitching seemed to be top-notch, I didn’t think I’d like the pillow, because it was like a bean bag, and not like most pillows, which are more “fluffy”. However, after sleeping on it for several nights and “learning” how it worked, it all made sense. The pillow allows you to position your head in neck exactly where you want them and it holds this position all night – game changer! Just be sure to give it some time and understand what buckwheat pillows are all about and I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised too.
