Great Pillow!
Very adjustable since you can remove hulls to fit your specific body size.

Hullo is an adjustable pillow in two ways: First, the zipper on the organic cotton case allows you to adjust the amount of buckwheat fill to suit your preference. Second, the buckwheat fill allows you to adjust the shape and thickness of the pillow. This adjustability helps position your body in the most comfortable and healthy position and keep it that way. Below are reviews mentioning adjustability.

We’ve been sleeping on buckwheat pillows for decades and love them. When it was time to buy new ones, we did a bit more research than previously and we’re happy to have found Hullo. After a few hull adjustments, we’re as pleased as can be with our pillows. My only suggestion is that the pillows could be made with 100% organic components: buckwheat hulls and pillow cases. Highly recommend Hullo.

I had to remove a decent amount of stuffing to get to my own personal support level, but I love that I had the option to do that! I’m all over the place at night and this thing goes where I tell it too and it STAYS there.

I had been racked w/ neck and back pain for over a year. Much of my pain was due to bad work space ergonomics, but also I came to realize that my sleeping arrangement was also a problem. After reading/ researching all of the side-sleep pillows I settled on the Hullo, as I cannot abide by foam pillows so Hullo was a natural choice (pun intended). After less than a month my neck pain had completely disappeared. Literally overnight. I cannot recommend the pillow enough. I took out about 20% of the hulls, only so our pillow cases could accommodate. I made a cat bed out of the excess. I think they’re sleeping better as well!

I’ve had my hullo pillow for almost three months now. After reading so many rave reviews I had high expectations but I can’t say it resolved my neck pain and tightness and it’s not the most comfy pillow I’ve ever had but then that’s perhaps not what one should expect from a buckwheat pillow. But it didn’t make my neck pain worse either and while it feels rather hard, overall I still sleep better on it than on a regular, small or a memory foam pillow made especially to support the neck. I like the size of the pillow but find the filling quite voluminous and will experiment next with removing some of the buckwheat content to see if that makes it feel better. I thought about returning it and think it’s great that the company offers that option but I’ve decided to keep it.

I waited too long before I tried the pillow, so I’m too late to request a refund. My bad. I tried it every night for 3 weeks. During that time I did adjust the buckwheat content level a few times trying to achieve a better outcome. But, I developed some neck and shoulder pain. I had to stop using the pillow and my neck and shoulder pain have lessened. Just not for me.

It’s oddly comfortable. I added some hulls that Hullo sent to make it a little thicker. It’s the best thing that’s happened to my neck in a while.

The first week was rough – my neck was so stiff! Then I finally started taking out hulls, and things got better… and I took our more hulls, and things got better… I took out a total of 6.5 cups, and now I don’t want to sleep on anything else!

I LOVE my Hullo (14 x 20). I’ve had buckwheat and millet pillows in the past, but the hulls weren’t as fresh as these are, which actually makes a big difference. If you haven’t used a buckwheat pillow before, they are somewhat firm. They are also adjustable in two ways – the first way you can adjust these pillows is by adding or subtract hulls so that your head is cradled just right. The amount I took out seems minimal, but it made a huge difference for me. I played around with it quite a bit before settling on the right amount, and I kept the extra hulls around in case I need them later.
The second way the Hullo is adjustable is that you can move the hulls around so they best cradle your head each time you move.
There is a rustling noise as you adjust the pillow and the buckwheat settles into place. It might bother some people, but I find it very relaxing.

I got the small size, which is perfect for this type of pillow. Typically I don’t like a big, firm pillow, just a bit to keep my neck straight. The buckwheat is firm, but it can be molded around your neck and head the way you like. I had to play around with the amount of buckwheat filling, trying less, then more, then less, etc. I seem to like it somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2 full. By that, I mean if I hold the pillow by the zipper end, the buckwheat flows to the bottom of the pillow a bit below the halfway mark and the top portion is empty. Too full, and the buckwheat flows less easily and it starts to feel too hard. So if you think it’s too hard, remove some of the filling and see how that feels. On the downside, it looks rather deflated on the bed, lol!
Usually I pull the pillow to mostly go under my neck. If that’s not perfect, then I push my head in a little. Sometimes I’ll just take my fist and punch a little hole for the back of my head. It’s like sand in that way, will stay the way you form it. When I change position, it usually adjusts with my movement. If not, I either use my hand to reform the shape or I give my head a tiny turn or two to dig in.
Have not gone back to a regular pillow for sleeping, but having fluffy ones for looks might be a good idea if that is important to you. If you get the small size, I suggest you look for a video online to show how to put it in a regular pillowcase so it fits perfectly and looks really nice (and less deflated!). I put mine in sideways which works well.

I love, love, love my Hullo pillow that I have been sleeping on for two months. My cranial bones located in my occipital area have been tender for many years. This pillow cradles my head perfectly. One might think that the hard buckwheat hulls would be uncomfortable however it’s quite the opposite. At first the pillows seemed a bit full for my liking but, the pillow has a nice zipper and I was able to remove 4 cups of hulls and that seemed to work well for me. I highly recommend this pillow and if you are unsure because of the cost it is completely worth it and comes with a money back guarantee. I also love that it is a Minnesota company, made an America:) Thank you Hullo.

I could sell these all day long. It’s like a mold around your head and neck. Sometimes if I get up in the night I might push on the hulls a bit and they just fill in the “neck gaps”, again, like a mold. Yes, the pillow is heavy’ish and it has some sound to it, but it’s the best pillow I’ve ever had. I’ve been using one for years and feel the same way. Just recently bought the smaller travel pillows (my partner feels the same way) so that’s why I got a review request. People who complain that it’s hard as a rock need to take out of the hulls. They are malleable so they naturally push down in, but you may have to take some out. I guess it’s not for everyone, but if you end up loving like we do you’ll be so glad you bought it.

Hullo makes a high-quality pillow. The buckwheat husks are uniform and clean. The pillowcase is exceptionally well made and sturdy. The ability to customize the pillow by removing or adding more buckwheat makes this pillow a great value. A welcome and loved addition to my pillow rotation, the Hullo has become my go to pillow.

I have no complaints with this pillow. While it is much more than I would normally spend on this type of an item, my sleep suffers so I thought it was worth spending the extra cash on. I also loved Hullo’s return policy as I thought it was a safe option when jumping into the buckwheat pillow game. I bought the king size pillow and it shipped quickly. I am a stomach sleeper so I took out two gallon ziploc bags of the hulls. I could probably take out a little more but I tend to just rearrange the hulls if it feels too raised. I love the customizability and that it is made to last a long time. I don’t see myself going back to a standard fill pillow.

I have had neck problems for years. With the combo of PT and your pillow, I feel great. This is the best pillow I ever owned. It does take a little getting used to. I had to take out some of the buckwheat hulls to make it perfect for me.

A few weeks after purchasing two Hullo pillows I phoned to tell that I thought I could use more filling. They immediately mailed more than enough hulls to fill to my satisfaction. Great Customer Service.

I’ve been sleeping on a buckwheat pillow for 10+years. This one is the best I’ve found. Casing is durable. Nice that the hulls are washed. Allergies much reduced over cheaper buckwheat pillows I’ve had in past. Love the zipper for adjusting fill or for washing. I’m a side sleeper & this pillow had the right amount of fill right out of box. Keeps my neck pain away. If you are new to buckwheat, the pillow does make noise when adjusting during night. Has never bothered my partner & doesn’t wake me. Definitely recommend the Hullo pillow!

I have had chronic neck pain for years and have been on the search for a supportive pillow for my neck and shoulders for about a year now. I put in probably 2 months using this pillow. I used it for about a month and when I continuously was waking up all night and in the morning with neck pain, I thought it was because I needed it to be firmer because throughout the night the hulls would move around so my neck wouldnt be supported. So I bought more hulls from the site. I added a decent amount to make it firm but it I was still waking up in pain. I had to switch to an old pillow actually because it was putting my neck and shoulders in worse pain than before. So I’m still on the search! I really wanted to love this pillow and raved about it before getting it. Even though it didn’t work out for me the quality of this pillow is amazing and would recommend it to a friend who may not have serious neck pain like me. On to the next!

After taking a few of the pellets out, this pillow is PERFECT! Yes, can be a little noisy when re-adjusting while sleeping, however, the noise is worth it! Thank you Hullo!

I ordered the standard rectangular and the neck roll. Both of them perform as expected. The canvas covers are durable and there is ample hulls stuffed inside so you can take some out to set aside for later if you need to.

I did not fall in love with my Hullo on day 1, but I really do like it now. I had to remove at least half of the buckwheat hulls that it came with, it was much too full for my needs as a back sleeper (I prefer a relatively thin pillow). I like that it’s very adjustable – I prefer support right under my neck and most pillows don’t provide any so my head falls forward. Hullo is great because you can squish it/shape it just right and then it’s set. My only complaint is that re-adjusting it in the middle of the night can be kind of loud and sometimes wakes up my partner. The sound is similar to shifting around sand in a bag but a bit louder – it’s not unpleasant sounding, just louder than I expected.

Love the firmness of this pillow, and the fact that I can have it take on any shape I wish based on how I want to sleep (side, back, etc).
Love the extra hulls they give you bc allows perfect customization of volume.

My old pillow was molded with a neck rest. I hadn’t replaced it in years and the neck rest was starting to flatten. In the mornings, my neck ached, so I knew it was time for a new pillow. Around this time, I also started snoring and snorting myself awake because I wasn’t getting enough air. I remembered a pillow from a Japanese ryokan that had felt hard the first night, but I ended up loving after our stay. I failed to find that pillow, but came across Hullo. Wow! I’ve been using it for 3 months. My neck doesn’t hurt in the mornings and my snoring has lessened.
Based on the reviews, I got the smaller pillow. As recommended, I took some of the filling out over subsequent nights until I found the right comfort level for me. It is noisy if you toss and turn a lot, but I’ve found that once it’s in the crater shape I want (lots of hulls in a U shape under the neck), it cradles my head and I don’t move much during the night. I ended up emptying about half the hulls and am not sure what to do with the excess. The pillow material is durable and the tuck away zipper made it easy to adjust the filling while still being secure when closed.

My Hullo pillow was recommended to me by a physical therapist that I’d been seeing for neck issues. While I still have some ongoing issues with my neck, my pillow has helped a lot. I like to sleep on my side, so find it very comfortable and the fit is right. I did have to take some of the hulls out as it was too full, but that’s simple to do and it made it a much better size/fit for me. Great pillow, but you should know, that it’s heavy! The material is well made and appears to be of a very high quality. I definitely recommend it.
