I Love My Sack of Grain
I got a buckwheat pillow for me and my partner. The pillow didn’t kill their snoring entirely, but snoring is down 90% at least. The sound has gone from a drowning water buffalo to the rumble of a old car in far in the distance. I can tune it out and sleep. For me, I don’t wake up with neck pain anymore, and I only have to sleep on one pillow. As an added bonus, my pillow is now so heavy that my kid can’t steal it off the bed for pillow forts.
It took a little getting used to, and the pillow had a faint smell at first, but as someone who gets migraines from strong smells I can attest that it wasn’t strong and didn’t smell bad. To me, it smelled like black tea, almost. I never in a million years would have thought that sleeping on what is essentially a sack of grain would improve my sleep so much, but it absolutely has.
You should absolutely get one, as long as you don’t intend to use it for pillow fights.

Basically as Advertised, Which is Good
I’ve had my buckwheat pillow for about 5 months now. You have to add or remove material a few times to get the balance right, but it’s worth it.
Things people complain about, but I don’t find bad:
Smell – detectable but not intrusive at all.
Noise – a bit annoying for major adjustments/the first of the night, but for minor adjustments or just while your heads on it, not bad at all.
Weight – definitely heavier than I expected, but I kind of like that.
Things people say are good, but I think aren’t perfect:
Shape holding – pretty good, but tossing/turning will change it minorly throughout the night.
Temperature – it’s not actively cool to the touch, but I think only once has it gotten “too warm” in 5 months.
I think those imperfect properties are probably inherent to a buckwheat pillow, and not a fault of Hullo in particular. I’m overall very satisfied with it.

Very Adaptable Pillow
I love my Hullo pillow! I am pretty picky about pillows. I like a pillow that’s firm but also malleable. Memory foam pillows have never worked for me because I can’t easily change the shape as I shift sleeping positions over the course of a night. I love how easy it is to reshape this pillow. I needed to take about half the filling out of mine to personalize it for my comfort, but that was very easy to do. The case is well made. The whole pillow feels clean and comfortable. It even smells fresh and clean. I wish I’d bought one years ago.

Finally Found the Perfect Pillow
I love this pillow. I was initially very hesitant because of the cost. I have been trying to find a pillow that will work for me for years. I am a side sleeper. Recently, I took up rock climbing which caused my upper body and neck to be sore frequently. This made a good night sleep for recovery imperative. My regular pillow was just not cutting it anymore. I was waking up in the morning with horrible neck and shoulder pain that was resulting in headaches. As soon as I switched to the Hullo pillow the pain subsided. It was a little different the first few nights, but I adjusted quickly. I have since tried my husband’s “regular” pillow and cannot stand it anymore. The Hullo conforms to my head and then supports my neck throughout the night. The “regular” pillow just goes flat and my neck is left sore. Very much worth the price. It is high quality and I forsee it lasting me a long time. Some people comment they do not like the smell. I actually find it quite pleasent. I would highly recommend this pillow.

Helpful, but not Super Soft and Comfy
The product gets 5 stars for meeting expectations. The pillow is exactly as explained. I have cervical stenosis and arthritis and nothing will remove the discomfort. Still, the texture from the hulls places my head at a perfect height to let me sleep comfortably on my back. I tend to sleep on my side, and so the edges provide less support than I want, or need. When I turn, I wonder if the crunchy sound might wake my spouse—he says it does not. And if I’m sound asleep, it doesn’t bother me either. I also think the hulls allow a definite cooling, which is great. I miss the softness of hypoallergenic polyester, but not the plastic, and certainly not the head-in-a-hole feeling. The Hullo pillow does what it says. And the smell is very very very faint and pleasant.

The Ultimate Pillow
We have used the buckwheat pillows since 1996 and they finally wore out. We browsed the Internet and we found the Hullo website.
We have purchased 2 of the queen size pillows and they are the real deal. These pillows do not smell or have any odor. If you have any doubt about these pillows, please don’t hesitate Purchase them. We have done some research and these are the best!

I Smell Better
I have sinus issues. I started to believe they just ran in the family or something. They’re to the point that I can hardly smell.
Sleeping on this pillow for a few weeks, though, really went a long way towards clearing up this issue. It’s not gone, but it’s better.

Thank You Hullo
I love my Hullo pillow. It was a rather expensive but well purchased pillow, worth its weight in gold. I have been having severe neck and shoulder pain. It was so bad that I was actually screaming. My neck is degenerative, and I had a huge knot across my shoulders. My doctor ended up putting me on muscle relaxers. I knew I needed more neck support for when I slept. I have looked at so many different pillows online trying to figure out the one that I thought would suit my needs. I have several friends that have tried buckwheat pillows but did not care for them. What my friends didn’t tell me or couldn’t tell me which which buckwheat pillow they tried. One of my friends claimed about how noisy it was. After reading all the reviews and taking weeks and maybe a number of months, I decided to break down and get the Hullo pillow It was the best pillow purchase I have ever made. The first thing I did when I got it, was listen for the noise that my friends had complained about. This pillow had minimal noise. There’s no smell or odor. The casement for the buckwheat is superb. When I got my buckwheat pillow i opened it up because I wanted to actually feel buckwheat. It really surprised me because it is so soft. When I finally laid down on it it was like instant relief and support for my neck. The first night I slept on it my body did not move at all. Between my Hullo pillow and my weighted blanket, I have the best sleep experience. I also have Tourette’s syndrome, so this has been the a huge help. TS has caused much of my neck problems. Best Pillow I Have Ever Owned for My Creaky Neck
Out of desperation and after trying all these other kinds of so called neck pillows I ordered the Hullo pillow. I considered the cheaper buckwheat pillows but some reviews talked about “smells” and “bugs” and hey, I sure didn’t need that just to save a few bucks. Well, I sure made the right decision. I threw away the other neck pillows and I will never use anything but the Hullo pillow. It molds right to what I need, my neck doesn’t complain and yes, it smells just fine. It was delivered quickly and carefully packed. I have arthritis in my neck so this was exactly what I need. Always a Hullo for me.

So Great!
Unlike any other pillow I’ve had, plus great customer service. I have a history of neck pain and am very picky about my pillows since one night with a bad pillow for me can mean multiple days of limited mobility in my neck. This pillow provides just the right amount of support (without being rigid) and comfort (without being crazy fluffy). It has a funny smell for the first few days but it wears off quickly.

My Hullo to Better Sleep
I have tried down, memory foam, and synthetic down pillows, but none compare to my Hullo. I sleep on my side and back and I love how this will confirm but still be supportive. You adjust the firmness desired. I also appreciate that is does not get hot causing sweaty neck as I had with memory foam pillow and yet it stays supportive unlike my down pillows. I get the best sleep.
You do need to get used to the noise of shells moving but now I do not notice and my husband never noticed. There is no funny smell like the memory foam pillow.
Being able to take shells out of case and air out in a box when I wash the cases is nice and eco friendly.
